Australia Bushfire Update
Extreme heat and winds on Saturday, February 7th resulted in severe bushfires across parts of the Australian state of Victoria. Use the map below for more details:
While many towns have been affected by the fires, Melbourne and many other areas of Victoria have not. Melbourne Airport has not been affected, and metropolitan rail and bus transport continues to service Melbourne. For more information, please visit the official website of Melbourne.

Last Tuesday, SeeANZ attended a fundraiser event in Chicago organized by the Victorian government. Proceeds from the event and other activites have raised over $18,500 thus far.

Things look to have calmed down a little bit now which i’m glad about. My condolences go out to the families of those that lost their lives.

Update: Thankfully, the the bushfires are now under control. The Australian Red Cross has reported that the Victorian Bushfire Appeal 2009 will close on Friday, April 17th.
